1 Timothy by Ryan Lowery (2026)

1 Timothy is a letter written by Paul to Timothy. The book focuses on triumphant love, how to fight for the truth amidst false teaching, and provides practical advice on building Christian community. 

Paul gives Timothy 3 key principles for opposing false teaching: love those who you disagree with, know that you are forgiven by God and not morally superior, and treat others with patience. 

In this section of 1 Timothy, Paul states that women should not teach. As we dive deeper into the passage and look at the context and culture, we come to understand that Paul is speaking to a specific situation rather than a giving a command for a wide audience. The bible is the word of God, and we should strive to understand and obey it's meaning. 

Biblical leadership required godly character. Paul lays out these characteristics in 1 Timothy 3. Dwell Community Church takes these qualifications seriously and values plurality of leadership, accountability, transparency, and setting term-limits on higher leadership positions. 

In a world where truth is scarce, the Bible offers eternal and firm truth. Paul calls the believers to live our biblical faith so that we can effect change in the world.
