Calumet Christian School Prepares to Open Next Week

With an extensive COVID safety plan in place, Calumet Christian School will start classes next Tuesday, September 8th. Students will be meeting in-person, with a virtual option available if parents prefer.

Calumet Principal Tyler Wriston says in making plans they wanted to employ a "family choice" model. "Each family can choose whether they want to send their children in-person or do virtual learning from home. We trust parents to make the best choice for their families. Our role at the school has been to make virtual learning as good as it can be, and to make in-person learning as safe as it can be."

In order to keep students distanced in the classroom, Calumet will be operating classes at 2 locations—its Calumet Street location in Clintonville and the Dwell Main Campus on Community Park Drive. Third-grade students, as well as students in middle-school (6th, 7th, and 8th) will be in the Calumet location and Main Campus will host preschool, kindergarten, and 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades.

In keeping with state mandates for schools, students and staff will be required to wear a mask while inside the building, and also outside, although a special area will be set up where kids can take off their masks if they stay distanced from other kids. Classrooms will be set up to allow plenty of space for kids, and there’ll be extra cleaning throughout the day.
